Hearts & Arrows
What is the H&A
pattern? The H&A pattern is a
series of eight arrowheads when viewed from above the crown
and eight heart shapes with small 'V' shapes when viewed from
the pavilion. The crown controls the fire and the pavilion
controls the diamond's white light or brilliance. When the
diamond has perfect symmetry, the movement of the light
particles inside the diamond creates the H&A pattern which
is noticeable at a single glance.
Diamonds with H&A
are cut to ideal proportions BUT they don’t necessarily have
an optimal light return
The
History of H&A In the 1980s, Japanese cutters
produced diamonds in such a precise manner that facet
reflections overlapped, creating kaleidoscope patterns. This
technique gained popularity and spread t different cutting
houses worldwide. It reached the USA in the mid
1990s.
H&A
viewers The phenomenon the actual H&A can be
seen by anyone who possesses a proportion or H&A viewer.
Sarin Technologies, developed a photorealistic viewer which is
a part of the DiaVision software, with this application, the
user can view the gray arrowheads from the top and the eight
hearts from the bottom, immaculately.
